I’m fragments of the past

Shreds of childhood compose my shroud and

Hunger

Are we in a Christian Culture that is so afraid of discomfort that we distract ourselves from feeling hunger? What ever happened to feeling a sort of agony because we long so much to venture away and focus on God? I feel like culture teaches us to avoid pain/hunger/discomfort, and so as soon as we feel it, we put an end to it. But are we bringing that over into our Christian community as well? We’re uncomfortable with our imperfections, so we avoid being authentic about our struggles. We’re uncomfortable with feeling the pull of the Spirit, so we become so busy that His voice becomes faint. Christianity isn’t about comfort. We should have peace, but it is much different than the feeling of ease we get when controlling the effectiveness of God on our lives.

When my life resembles my worst imaginings, God be praised. I will not be cliche and say that I have it better than starving homeless people, and so I should be thankful. I hurt and I feel real struggle that comparison cannot comfort. Yet, I will praise God. Not because I feel like my life is so great at this moment, but simply because He is God. That is enough.

Day 17: The worst Death

In terms of how dramatic the death, I would say either Rue or Prim. But I also felt like Finnick’s death was such a bummer too. It just wasn’t at a time where it could be mourned really well.

Day 16: A question you wish had been answered in the books

I think I’d like to know the back stories of more of the characters. I know that it’s from Katniss’ point of view, so you can’t really. But maybe if there were a fourth book as like a prequel kind of thing that told you more about the characters.

Day 15: Your least favorite tribute aside from Peeta or Katniss

My least favorite tribute has to be Cato honestly. I don’t get all the fan girls who love him. I think once again it’s just an obsession with the guy who plays him. People! Just because someone looks attractive doesn’t mean they are a good person. In the book Cato is just a violent brawny kind of guy. He manipulates a whole pack of vicious people with him. He takes delight in killing people. And honestly he is only looking out for himself. If he was any where near as good of a character as Peeta or Katniss then he would have at least tried to save Clove. Instead he just hid in the woods while she got her head bashed in. On that note, Clove is kind of evil too. You can’t base her character solely on the film. She is a vicious blood-hungry girl. And they did NOT have a romance. So stop talking about Clato. Just stop.

Day 14: Your favorite tribute aside from Peeta and Katniss

In the 74th games: Rue. She is just so cute and I love that she is like a monkey.

In the 75th games: Finnick. He has been through so much. He is like Peeta in a lot of ways, but he isn’t after any other girl besides Annie. Which is adorable because he could pretty much have any girl he wanted. His character is just really well written.
